GO Kit Construction

In January of 2018, Harford County ARES/RACES received new amateur radio GO Kit containers and equipment from the Maryland Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene. The new kits include a shelf to allow pre-connection of the Anderson PowerPole / Rigrunner equipment as well as a laptop PC to facilitate digital communications.

Each new kit required four plus hours of assembly work. Ted Wieworka W3YR and several other team members worked over a period of several days to complete work on our nine new GO kits. The GO kits are designed to provide communications for hospitals and other served agencies during ARES/RACES responses.

Two of these GO kits were used to provide amateur radio communications at the event command post during the Susquehanna River Running Festival.
